October Picnics

One of our favourite things to do is picnic. We have a much loved picnic basket, and a much loved picnic spot by the banks of the river.

However, as much as we love Autumn, the weather rarely permits picnics… well screw you, Autumn weather! We don’t need your permission! *shakes fist*

So, it’s off to the local farmers’ market for picnic treats. We got Brie, we got sweet fresh strawberries, we got peppery cheese, we got jam, we got joy in a basket.

Shopping is tiring work.

It’s much too cold to picnic outside, so indoors we go!

Look at Terry's home-made chocolate pie! He is the Pie Master.

Because it isn’t a picnic without blankets on the floor, picnic baskets, and Summer dresses with big hats.

English Summer Rain

It may be July, but rain is still the one thing the British climate does well… and it likes to show off, even when it’s supposedly Summer.

I had originally planned to go shopping for a new pair of shoes and a pretty sugar bowl today, but as soon as I opened the curtains and saw how yesterday’s sunshine had dissolved into heavy rain, it became apparent that sugar bowls and shoes would have to wait.

So instead Wendy and I are spending the day cuddled under a pink quilt, watching the rain bounce off the pavement, eating strawberry sandwiches and singing Bob Marley.

Wendy seems to approve of the change of plan, she says; “Prrrruuuu!”

Gang of Three.

Team Goodwin
Team Goodwin: Now with added Woo.

So… it turns out I suck at blogging. It’s been so long since I’ve added to this thing! It’s hardly surprising though, I was never any good at keeping a journal either, and the problem with blogging is that I don’t get the satisfaction of seeing my pretty handwriting spread across the page. Terry said he’d blog now and then, but I think that was just one of those passing fancies he sometimes gets, they enter his head but then seem to fall out through his ears.

Anyway, to catch up, Wendy the Woo is now almost three months old (we call her Wendy the Woo because when she cries, she doesn’t go “Waa waa!” like other babies do, she says “Woo, woo, a-woo!”) and we’re finally used to having another little person on the Team.

She sucks her thumb, snores loudly, and has been sleeping through the night for quite a few weeks now. She likes pulling hair, blowing spit bubbles, pretending to walk, and staring at bookcases. She’s even already trying to sit up, rolling over and laughing at her own farts.

She’s very cute, and we love her to tiny little pieces. ^_^

(Firstly, apologies for the lateness of this post, things have been rather busy at Team Goodwin HQ lately.)

12th April 2009, Easter Sunday. Normally a day I would associate with excessive amounts of chocolate, brightly-coloured eggs, fluffy chicks and straw hats with ribbons on.

However, this year was a little different… The Bump decided to make a move.

Having inherited my sense of punctuality, The Bump was two days overdue, for a true lady is unpredictable, and never arrives exactly when she is expected.

I’ll spare you the gory details, but tell you that we arrived at the hospital at around 9:00 that bright Easter morning, and several hours later, at 7.33pm, an extremely angry looking little chubbster graced the world with her presence:

Clearly, she would rather not disclose her weight.

Her name is Wendy Daffodil, and she is the newest member of Team Goodwin.

So, I didn’t get to make any Jelly Eggs this year, and I didn’t get to spend hours munching the ears off chocolate bunnies and making Iggy Wiggie nests… but I think it was worth it.

How Do You Do?

The first post of a brand spankin’ new blog!

What’s the purpose of this particular blog? Well, I don’t really know. I guess it’s just a recounting of the every day activities of Team Goodwin, in all their mundane glory.

So, who exactly is Team Goodwin? I feel we should be formally introduced, it’s only polite:

Cherish and TerryMr & Mrs Goodwin

The founders of Team Goodwin. We’re the bestest of best friends, and have been married since the 14th of April, 2007.

Terry is a computer game programmer, and makes the best blueberry pancakes in the world. Cherish writes stories, and refuses to get a “proper” job.

The DoctorThe Doctor

The Doctor holds a PHD in both Infectious Diseases and Neurology. His work is generally held in very high esteem, and has contributed to some of the greatest medical advances in recent history. He also likes cucumber and is scared of brooms.

The Scientist

the scientist

The Scientist is very highly regarded in the world of Holistic Medicine. Although his work may not be very prestigious, he does enjoy a good cuddle. His hobbies include food, eating and fine dining.

The Bumpbump

The newest member of Team Goodwin. Through much scientific research, we have concluded that there’s probably a baby person in there. We expect it to be cute, chubby and toothless.
